Module 2 · Spring growing, garden systems, and food skills
Run an Integrated Pest Management Clinic
Adult extension of: Pests, Mold, and Other Garden Problems
Adults rotate through realistic plant-problem stations and learn to inspect first, separate symptoms from causes, and choose the least-risk useful response.
01 · Learning
Objectives
- Identify observable signs of pests, excess water, drought, mold, or poor light.
- Separate the observed symptom from a possible cause.
- Select a monitor, cultural, mechanical, or escalation response.
02 · Preparation
Materials
Healthy and affected plants or photos; fake insects; wet and dry soil samples; hand lens; white paper; symptom cards; sanitation supplies; IPM action sheet; quarantine label.
03 · Practice
Adult project
- 1
Inspect the whole plant, pot, soil surface, and underside of leaves.
- 2
Record only what is visible before naming a diagnosis.
- 3
Compare the evidence with problem cards and rule out poor care first.
- 4
Choose monitor, isolate, adjust care, remove pests, clean, or escalate.
- 5
Apply one low-risk response to the demonstration scenario.
- 6
Set a follow-up date and define what improvement will look like.
