Download the Pillor APK
Register on the private-beta page, accept the confidentiality agreement, and tap Download Pillor. Open the downloaded file from your browser notification or your phone's Downloads folder.
Android adds extra safety checks to apps installed outside Google Play. Follow these steps in order; menu names may vary slightly by phone brand and Android version.
Register on the private-beta page, accept the confidentiality agreement, and tap Download Pillor. Open the downloaded file from your browser notification or your phone's Downloads folder.
If Android says your browser or Files app is not allowed to install unknown apps, tap Settings on the message. Turn on Allow from this source for the app you used to open the APK, then return and tap Install. You can turn this permission back off after Pillor is installed.
Because this private beta is not yet in Google Play, Play Protect may inspect it or show an extra warning. Confirm that the file name is Pillor-v0.10.0-Private-Beta.apk and that you downloaded it from this site. Follow the on-screen option to continue only if those details match. Do not permanently turn off Play Protect.
On some Galaxy phones, Auto Blocker prevents all installations outside approved stores. Go to Settings → Security and privacy → Auto Blocker and turn it off temporarily, install Pillor, and then turn Auto Blocker back on. You may also need Settings → Security and privacy → More security settings → Install unknown apps.
Open Pillor and read its disclosure. When Pillor opens Android Accessibility settings, find Pillor under Installed apps or Downloaded apps, select it, and turn on Use Pillor. Pillor uses app/window changes to notice drift and is configured not to retrieve screen content.
If prompted, allow Display over other apps or Appear on top for Pillor. This lets the reminder appear while you are using another app. The exact wording varies by phone.
When Pillor asks, tap Allow. If you already denied the request, open Settings → Apps → Pillor → Notifications and turn on Allow notifications. On Samsung, you can also use Settings → Notifications → App notifications → Pillor.
Return to Pillor, choose your Main Anchor and Work Apps, and begin. Switch to an app outside your approved workspace to confirm that the reminder appears.
Try the message that most closely matches what you see.
Tap Settings in the message, select the browser or Files app that opened the APK, and enable Allow from this source. Return to the download and try again.
On Samsung, temporarily turn off Settings → Security and privacy → Auto Blocker. Install Pillor, then turn Auto Blocker back on.
Open Settings → Apps → Pillor → Notifications. Turn on Allow notifications and make sure the Pillor Reminders category is enabled.
Recheck Pillor under Accessibility → Installed apps and confirm Display over other apps is allowed. Some phones may also pause an unused app; open Pillor again if that happens.
Delete the incomplete download and download the APK again. Make sure you have storage space and are not trying to install it inside a restricted work or school profile.
Use the search box inside your phone's Settings app for “install unknown apps,” “Pillor notifications,” “accessibility,” or “appear on top.”
After Pillor installs, turn off Allow from this source for your browser or Files app. If you changed Samsung Auto Blocker, turn it back on. Keep Google Play Protect enabled.
