Evidence & interpretation

What the investigation shows

Different plants need different depth, spacing, light, and water. A planting date is a plan; actual weather and site conditions determine readiness.

Practical connection

Why this work matters

Practice observation, decision-making, shared responsibilities, and communication through a concrete plant or materials task. Participants choose hands-on, planning, or recording roles.

Participation by choice

Individual access options

  • Offer speech, pointing, gaze, AAC, partner-assisted scanning, or a recorded choice. Follow individual vision and mobility plans. Present one or two items at a time; watching, declining, and taking a break are valid participation.
  • Use a seated-height tray, stabilized tools, large-print or picture instructions, and partner assistance chosen by the participant.
  • Reduce the number of comparisons or complete the planning and observation portions without handling materials.

Review & transfer

Reflect on the work

  • Which condition might make you postpone planting?
  • How can the care plan keep participation accessible after planting day?
